We all know how difficult pregnancy already is, without having to worry about what you're eating and how you're getting enough nutrients to your baby (especially when all we're craving is junk!)
It is normal to allow yourself to give into some of your unhealthy cravings, but do try and stick to a healthy balanced diet where possible.
Here we have some healthy snack ideas for you to enjoy during pregnancy that should satisfy your increased hunger and some of your cravings:
Homemade potato wedges (keep the skins on!) can provide fibre to your diet, whilst also hitting that savoury spot and keeping you full for longer. Get extra Brownie points for using sweet potatoes, and top with any of your favourite seasoning. Craving spice? Then top yours with a pinch of chilli flakes.
Guacamole is a healthy dip containing essential fats that can be accompanied by so many different vegetables (think dipping carrots, celery or slices of pepper), breadsticks, or as a healthy topping on Ryvita or toast.
Yogurt & Fruits
Got a sweet tooth? Try a small bowl of yogurt (vegan options are also a really healthy alternative) which is packed with calcium and topping with some healthy fruits. Think strawberries, blueberries, passion fruit or banana! This not only makes a healthy and filling snack, but also a great desert option.
Hummus is packed full of protein and is a really versatile dip which can be eaten with vegetable batons, topped on rice cakes, as a cracker topping or in a sandwich with lots of salad and vegetables. Hummus is also really easy and super cheap to make too, win win!
